What is the market telling us
Alight’s shares are extremely volatile and have had 86 moves greater than 5% over the last year. But moves this big are rare even for Alight and indicate this news significantly impacted the market’s perception of the business.
The biggest move we wrote about over the last year was 3 months ago when the stock dropped 17% on the news that the company's weak forward guidance overshadowed its better-than-expected second-quarter revenue and profitability.
While Alight's second-quarter revenue and adjusted profitability came in ahead of estimates, investors focused on the company's 3.2% year-over-year sales decline and deteriorating outlook.
Alight is down 58.5% since the beginning of the year, and at $15.61 per share, it is trading 71.1% below its 52-week high of $54 from November 2025. Investors who bought $1,000 worth of Alight’s shares 5 years ago would now be looking at only $68.76.
