TAMPA, Fla. - September 3, 2021 - (Newswire.com)

Lap of Love - a national network of veterinarians providing end-of-life care for pets in the home - is sponsoring a conference in Tampa this September for members of a growing movement of professionals providing family-centered in-home hospice care for animals.

The International Association for Animal Hospice and Palliative Care (IAAHPC) will be hosting its upcoming annual conference at the Tampa Water Street Marriott September 9-12. The conference promotes guidelines for comfort-oriented care hospice for animals. It also enables discussion of best practices and tips for caring for aging animals.

Lap of Love is a growing network of veterinarians dedicated to maintaining comfort and quality of life for terminally ill or geriatric pets until the family chooses peaceful in-home euthanasia or natural death occurs.

"We're so excited to sponsor this year's IAAHPC conference in our very own backyard," said Dr. Dani McVety, Founder and CEO of Lap of Love, the largest U.S. network of veterinarians dedicated to providing in-home hospice, eldercare, and euthanasia for pets.

"This conference provides continued education and networking opportunities for veterinarians in the animal palliative care industry."

"In many ways, the loss of a pet can be as traumatic as losing a friend or family member to a terminal illness," says, Dr. McVety.

"It's hard to know when it's time to say goodbye, and the pandemic has made things more difficult. We at Lap of Love continue making in-home visits, using the best personal protective equipment. We're doctors, so we know."

The 2021 IAAHPC conference will have a private screening of a documentary titled "The Hardest Day" at the Florida Aquarium. The film follows the emotional journey of pet owners having to make the difficult decision to provide a peaceful passing to their beloved furry family members and how the Lap of Love veterinarians handle this enormous task. Film director, Ross Taylor, will be on hand to answer questions on the documentary.

The company is also sponsoring the attendance of several pre-veterinary students from the University of South Florida.

The IAAHPC promotes veterinary care that addresses the physical, psychological, and social needs of animals with chronic diseases. This global organization also works to educate professionals and advance research in animal hospice and palliative care.
