When you have a small bedroom and are limited to the amount of space you have to store away all of your belongings, you need to put your creative hat on and get busy finding ideal solutions. Whether it’s a new way to store your jewellery or making the most of your wardrobe space, we’ve put together six storage hacks to help you get the most out of the space you do have.

Underbed storage

If you are not utilising the space under your bed, you should start doing this immediately. Your bed doesn’t need to have drawers for you to be able to make the most of this. You can buy storage boxes or bags to put your bedding or out of season clothing in and help keep your room clutter-free. If you do buy a storage box, make sure it has a lid to help keep dust bunnies away.

Overbed storage

You have all that room under your bed but you also have the room over your bed too, which you could be utilising. An overbed storage unit combines cupboards and drawers to give your bed a classy and elegant look. Overhead storage gives you space for extra clothes, linen, books, or blankets.

Use clear boxes for shoes

A good way to store shoes is by placing them in clear boxes. This will allow you to keep your shoes stored away neatly and you will still be able to see them making it easier to manage your shoes and find your favourite pair to wear. Putting them in a clear box is a better option than using an over-the-door organiser or a rack which can look bulky and unattractive.

Hang jewellery on a corkboard

You probably have a jewellery box taking up space in your wardrobe, or your jewellery could be sitting scattered on top of your dresser. There are many ways you can use a corkboard but one way is to hang all your pieces of jewellery on it. It looks cute and will keep all your necklaces detangled and earrings safe in one place.

Add a storage bench

A storage bench placed at the bottom of your bed is perfect for storing away blankets, clothes, and handbags, or if it’s in your child’s bedroom, it’s a great way to store toys and gives your little one somewhere comfy to sit.

Hang double bars in your wardrobe

More often than not, people have one bar in their wardrobe which is usually near the top, leaving plenty of space at the bottom. While you can use this space for boxes, you could also add another bar which will save you from squeezing all your clothes onto the top bar, making it easier to find your favourite items.

Having a small bedroom is not ideal but if you utilise the space that you have and use smart storage solutions, it can be made much simpler and make you feel happier in your home. Hopefully, these six tips outlined in this post have given you some inspiration to get creative with storage in your bedroom.
