Office Depot Helps to Start and ‘Keep School Going’ with Programs and Partnerships that Give Back and Help Teachers Save

Office Depot is helping to start and “Keep School Going” with programs and partnerships that supply students and schools with resources to keep confidence high, plus offerings that help educators save on the supplies they need to conquer the upcoming school year.

“This is a unique and challenging time for teachers, parents and students, but no matter where classes start, we’re ready to help make sure that back-to-school is still back-to-learning,” said Kevin Moffitt, executive vice president and chief retail officer for Office Depot.

While school might look different this year, Office Depot is continuing to help connect students with the tools and resources they need to Learn from Anywhere™ and teachers with the supplies they need to continue to engage and inspire their students, with programs and partnerships including:

Teacher Appreciation Days: Now through Saturday, Sept. 12, teachers who are Office Depot® OfficeMax® Rewards members will receive 20% back in rewards on a qualifying in-store or online purchase when they present the coupon available at officedepot.com/teachers and a valid Rewards number at checkout. Office Depot and OfficeMax retail locations across the country will also celebrate teachers and administrators during this time with exclusive offers to thank them for all that they do. Additionally, during the month of August, stores will give away free teacher planners (while supplies last) filled with a year’s worth of savings for teacher Rewards Members. For details, contact a local store.

Start Proud!®: Office Depot will continue to help students in underserved communities get the supplies they need to start the new school year feeling confident, prepared and proud through its Start Proud! community investment program. Now in its third year, Office Depot is preparing to distribute 18,000 brand-new backpacks filled with school supplies, valued collectively at over $1.5 million, to students at more than 25 Title I schools across the country. With support from Boise Paper and Domtar Paper, each backpack will include one $20 Office Depot OfficeMax gift card for parents to purchase additional supplies for their child. In addition, principals at 18 of the selected Start Proud® schools will have the chance to recognize one outstanding educator with an “All-Star Teacher” supply package from Office Depot, valued at over $1,500.

School Supply Drive: Now through Saturday, Sept. 26, customers can help to make a difference for a local Title I school by making a donation at the checkout counter of their nearest Office Depot or OfficeMax retail location. Nationwide, Office Depot and OfficeMax stores have teamed up with a local Title I school in their area to help them get much-needed supplies for the new school year. Customers also have the opportunity to send well wishes to students and teachers at the partner school by filling out a personalized note of encouragement at the register. Last year, through the generosity of its customers, Office Depot was able to give over $1.25 million in school supplies to Title I schools across the country.

Give Back to Schools Program: Customers can help to support schools in a meaningful way through the Give Back to Schools Program. Whether they work for a local school, have a family member or friend that is enrolled, or even want to give back to a school that had a meaningful impact on them, participating in this program is a small act that can make a huge difference. To participate, simply make a purchase of qualifying school supplies, provide the school's name or ID at checkout (in-store and online) and the designated school will receive 5% back in credits for free supplies. Office Depot has issued over $37 million in credits since this program began in 2002.

National PTA Partnership: Office Depot also supports parents, students and teachers through an ongoing partnership with National PTA. As a Proud National Sponsor of National PTA’s Back-to-School Week, September 14-18, Office Depot will support the association in providing information and resources to help PTA leaders, parents, students and teachers navigate the new school year and the challenges that have arisen from the COVID-19 pandemic—focusing on social and emotional well-being, addressing food insecurity, resources for family engagement, greater support for distance teaching and learning, and bridging the digital divide. Each day of the week, information and resources will be shared at PTA.org/BackToSchool and on social media.

During these unprecedented times, Office Depot continues to provide communities with convenient ways to access the products and services they need to keep students learning. In addition to in-person shopping at Office Depot and OfficeMax retail locations, the company also offers convenient and contactless pick-up and delivery options via officedepot.com, including:

  • Free In-store and Curbside Pickup: Order on officedepot.com and qualifying items will be available for pickup in one hour or less. Most stores also offer contactless curbside pickup. Just park in a spot near the front of the store and select “I’m Curbside” from the email confirmation and the order will be brought out to the car.
  • Same-Day Delivery: Customers can get the school supplies they need, right when they need them. Simply head to officedepot.com, place a qualifying order and have the products delivered straight to the door.
  • Free Next Business-Day Delivery: Spend $60 or more on qualifying items and get free next business-day delivery.
