What To Expect From Beyond Meat’s (BYND) Q4 Earnings

Plant-based protein company Beyond Meat (NASDAQ: BYND) will be reporting earnings this Wednesday after the bell. Here’s what you need to know.

Beyond Meat beat analysts’ revenue expectations last quarter, reporting revenues of $70.22 million, down 13.3% year on year. It was a softer quarter for the company, with revenue guidance for next quarter missing analysts’ expectations significantly and a significant miss of analysts’ EBITDA estimates.

This quarter, the market is expecting Beyond Meat’s revenue to decline 18.1% year on year, a reversal from the 4% increase it recorded in the same quarter last year.

Analysts covering the company have generally reconfirmed their estimates over the last 30 days, suggesting they anticipate the business to stay the course heading into earnings. Beyond Meat has missed Wall Street’s revenue estimates multiple times over the last two years.

Looking at Beyond Meat’s peers in the perishable food segment, some have already reported their Q4 results, giving us a hint as to what we can expect. Mission Produce’s revenues decreased 16.6% year on year, beating analysts’ expectations by 6.9%, and Calavo reported a revenue decline of 20.8%, topping estimates by 5%. Mission Produce traded down 8.2% following the results while Calavo was also down 5.3%.
