Mortgage finance REIT Annaly Capital Management (NYSE: NLY) will be announcing earnings results this Wednesday afternoon. Here’s what investors should know.

Annaly Capital Management missed analysts’ revenue expectations by 74.2% last quarter, reporting revenues of $110.8 million, up 131% year on year. It was a softer quarter for the company, with a significant miss of analysts’ revenue estimates and a significant miss of analysts’ net interest income estimates.

This quarter, analysts are expecting Annaly Capital Management’s revenue to grow 588% year on year to $826.3 million, improving from the 123% increase it recorded in the same quarter last year. Adjusted earnings are expected to come in at $0.72 per share.

Analysts covering the company have generally reconfirmed their estimates over the last 30 days, suggesting they anticipate the business to stay the course heading into earnings. Annaly Capital Management has missed Wall Street’s revenue estimates six times over the last two years.

Looking at Annaly Capital Management’s peers in the banks segment, some have already reported their Q3 results, giving us a hint as to what we can expect. AGNC Investment delivered year-on-year revenue growth of 122%, beating analysts’ expectations by 42.3%, and WaFd Bank reported flat revenue, falling short of estimates by 2%. WaFd Bank’s stock price was unchanged following the results.
