Intermountain Health Opens New Air Medical Base in Kingman, Arizona, to Enhance Access to Vital Emergency Care Across Mohave County

(PRUnderground) May 6th, 2026

Intermountain Health celebrated the opening of its newest air medical base at the Kingman Airport in northwestern Arizona with a ribbon‑cutting ceremony alongside the Kingman Area Chamber of Commerce, local emergency medical services partners, and community leaders.

The new Intermountain Health base strengthens emergency medical transport services for the region and builds on the long‑standing legacy of air medical care that the community knows and trusts.

The new Intermountain Health Kingman base, located at the Kingman Airport, is now home to one Intermountain medical helicopter and flight crew, providing rapid response for critically ill or injured patients.

“For many years, this community relied on Classic Air Medical, and that connection runs deep,” said Wade Patten, senior clinical director of medical transport at Intermountain Health. “We are grateful for the trust and support Kingman has shown as we transitioned to Intermountain Health and expanded our services.”

The new base is fully integrated into Intermountain Health’s broader air medical system, giving Kingman and surrounding communities access to Intermountain’s entire air medical fleet and clinical network when needed.

“We’re excited to be here and to serve this area even better – connecting people to the right care faster and supporting patients and families when it matters most,” said Patten.

At the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Intermountain Health leaders expressed appreciation for the Kingman Area Chamber of Commerce and local first responders and EMS agencies whose collaboration and support helped make the new base possible.

“This work would not happen without strong local partnerships,” said Nick Billings, base operations manager for Intermountain Health. “We’re thankful for the Chamber’s leadership, the dedication of our EMS partners and the community’s continued support as we work together to care for people across Mohave County.”

The transition from Classic Air Medical to Intermountain Health, which occurred more than a year ago, brought added vital resources and coordination while preserving what matters most to the community: highly trained crews, a local presence and collaboration with EMS and first responders, and a shared commitment to saving lives.

When a patient needs a higher level of care, Intermountain Health’s integrated system allows teams to coordinate transport quickly to the most appropriate facility – whether that’s nearby or across the region.

Intermountain Health has served Colorado River communities since 2016, including through its legacy with Classic Air Medical. The new Kingman base builds on that history while expanding resources, coordination, and access to care for the entire Kingman area.

The ribbon‑cutting event marked an important milestone for emergency medical services in Mohave County and reflects the strong collaboration between Intermountain Health and the community it serves.
