During the exam, Dr. Davis will review the driver’s medical history, current medications or treatments, and health aspects including vision, hearing, and blood pressure, to meet the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration requirements. These state that drivers must have at least 20/40 acuity in each eye (with or without correction) and a 70-degree field of vision for road safety. Moreover, they should be able to hear a forced whisper from 5 feet away with or without a hearing aid. Lastly, drivers’ blood pressure should be below 140/90 mmHg with higher readings requiring action.
To ensure a smooth and efficient examination process, Davis Chiropractic asks patients to bring a medication list, provider contact details, and eyeglasses or hearing aids if worn to their appointment. Recent test results and/or a letter from their attending physician are required for patients taking blood thinners, or with a condition such as diabetes, sleep apnea, or a history of a stroke, heart attack, or cardiac intervention.
Patients can download and fill out the DOT Physical Exam Report Form and the Medical Examiner’s Certificate from the website in advance to streamline their clinic visit. Appointments with no long waits can be booked between Mondays and Wednesdays and on Fridays.
