Annual "Shining Through Compassionate Service" Gala To Eradicate Homelessness

The 3rd Annual Shining Through Service With Compassion Gala will be held on Saturday, November 9, at The Langham Huntington Hotel, 1401 S Oak Knoll Avenue in Pasadena. This black-tie fundraiser benefits Holliday’s Helping Hands (HHH).

Those committed to eradicating homelessness and helping children in need throughout Los Angeles County can make a significant impact by attending the 3rd Annual Shining Through Service With Compassion Gala on Saturday, November 9, at The Langham Huntington Hotel, 1401 S Oak Knoll Avenue in Pasadena. This black-tie event is hosted by Holliday’s Helping Hands (HHH), a nonprofit that addresses homelessness by providing permanent housing, essential life skills instruction, job training and the necessary resources needed to achieve self-sufficiency. Tickets are $300 each, and corporate sponsorships at various levels are available by calling (424) 340-2468 or visiting www.hollidayshh.org. Ticket costs are tax-deductible.

The evening begins at 6 pm with a VIP reception, where guests will enjoy cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and a silent auction as well as an activation station featuring a photo booth and a golf simulator. The main event, that will take place in the grand ballroom, includes a multi-course dinner, live entertainment, and a presentation to honor two community activists: Yuri Williams, founder of A Future Hero & Friends, which provides essential support services to vulnerable populations, and Lisa Collins, CEO of Ladies of Football, which helps unhoused women and children caught in vulnerable situations. The evening will be hosted by comedian Kojo and will feature a performance by Marsha Ambrosius. The night will continue with a live auction, music, and dancing.

“The Shining Through Service With Compassion Gala is our most important fundraiser of the year,” says Miss Katina Holliday, founder of Holliday’s Helping Hands. “This event not only fuels our mission to serve but also brings critical awareness to the issue of homelessness — a societal issue that affects us all.”

Proceeds from the gala will benefit three of the HHH's cornerstone programs:

1 STAR Program - Empowers younger members of homeless families break free from the cycle of poverty through education and opportunity by funding scholarships for high school students, underwriting summer camps, offering reading programs and tutoring.

2 House A Home Program - Upgrades Section 8 housing by transforming empty apartments into warm, inviting, fully furnished homes thus creating a safe, stable and welcoming environment.

3 Shine Ambassador Worksource (SAWS) Program - Offers valuable job training for those transitioning from homelessness to living lives of independence in various fields including landscaping, maintenance, culinary arts, retail, healthcare and customer service. Some may land onsite training at PIX Exchange, HHH's own thrift store and screen printing facility, and those pursuing careers in healthcare may enroll in the HHH School of Nursing, where they can become Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) at no cost (such programs offered outside HHH typically cost $2,000).

Founded in 2018 by Miss Holliday, a Family Nurse Practitioner, HHH provides not only housing but also roadmaps to self-sufficiency for the clients Journey to Home. These roadmaps include lifestyle skills, budgeting, job readiness, and good neighbor training. HHH’s Shine Ambassador Program has helped many find fulfilling jobs, and the organization currently employs 200 staff members in fields such as social work, nursing, administration and maintenance.
