CHICAGO, Sept. 15, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- October Three, an industry-leading retirement strategy consulting, technology and administration firm, announced the results of its 2026 PRT Trends Report.

In the first half of 2026, plan terminations accounted for two out of every three PRT transactions according to a survey of insurance carriers. Overall, survey respondents report a decline in transactions in the first half of the year, though expectations for the PRT market are slightly more positive compared to 2025.

October Three’s 2026 PRT Trends Report includes:

  • H1 2026 Pension Funding Update
  • Annuity Purchase Interest Rate Analysis
  • H1 2026 PRT Transaction Breakdown
  • Economic & Market Sentiment
  • New Deal Pipelines
  • PRT Trends & Expectations for 2026-2027

“There is a bit more optimism from insurance carriers about the PRT market compared to the survey we conducted last year,” said Mark Unhoch, PRT Practice Leader at October Three. “Overall, there is less trepidation about PRT litigation this year since many of the previous lawsuits have been dismissed. Our survey also indicated that insurance carriers are conducting more business from outside of traditional single-employer plans.”

October Three conducted a survey of insurance companies participating in the PRT market to gauge market activity in the first half of 2026. Their responses, combined with October Three’s internal market data, provide insights into how the PRT market performed in the first half of 2026, as well as expectations for the first half of 2027.
