The Gold Nugget awards are presented annually by the California Building Industry Association (CBIA) and Pacific Coast Builders Conference (PCBC). The 2026 competition included more than 800 entries from across the United States and internationally.

Created by Shea Homes® and Nolen Communities, Fox Point Farms is located at 1200 Fox Point Farms Lane in the popular coastal city of Encinitas, Calif. At the July 29, 2026 ceremony, Fox Point Farms received Gold Nugget awards for:

  • Best Community Land Plan
  • Best Community Amenity
  • Mixed-Use Community of the Year

The community also received Gold Nugget merit awards for Best Infill Community and Best Landscape Architecture.

“Fox Point Farms is an ‘agrihood’ community built around a 5.5-acre working farm and focused on farm-to-table, agricultural themes,” said Paul Barnes, President of Shea Homes San Diego. “It is also California’s first WELL-certified residential community, reflecting its commitment to resident health and well-being through features such as advanced air and water filtration systems, and low-VOC and low-emission building materials.”

The project team included Shea Homes, Nolen Communities, Stark Architecture, SteinbergHart, Schmidt Design Group, Catalina Design Group, and PLSA Engineering.

Although Fox Point Farms is now sold out, it continues to serve as an example of thoughtful planning, wellness-focused design, and collaboration. In addition to its regenerative farm, resident amenities feature a brewery and coffee roastery, edible gardens, walking trails, a produce market, farming classes and wellness programming.
