New season features thought leaders from across the healthcare ecosystem on making care simpler, more connected and more impactful for patients

Surescripts®, the nation’s leading health intelligence network, will premiere the fifth season of its award-winning podcast, There’s a Better Way: Smart Talk on Healthcare and Technology, on June 23, 2026.

Check out the trailer for Season 5 of There’s a Better Way.

Building on four seasons of conversations about interoperability, intelligence and clinical technology, Season 5 focuses on one clear imperative: keeping patient care on track.

Melanie Marcus, Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer for Surescripts, is back asking healthcare technology changemakers from across the nation this season's signature question: What's your "better way" in healthcare, and how does it show up for patients in real life?

“American healthcare is innovative and advanced, but there's a paradox: it's also plagued by complexity and fragmentation, a lack of connection, and sticky challenges that stall progress in creating a better, patient-focused system of care,” said Marcus. "This season, we’re asking healthcare leaders how they are working to make that paradox history and to share candidly how they are keeping patient care on track in 2026, not just with automation and technology, but by making healthcare more human."

This season, guests represent perspectives from community pharmacy, health systems, life sciences, federal policy, and patient advocacy, and will help examine how healthcare leaders are reducing complexity for patients, boosting connection and alignment across the care team, and building real momentum and impact.

Past seasons guests feature inspiring, driven healthcare leaders including:

  • David Bardan, Head of Healthcare for CLEAR
  • Dr. Eric Boose, Associate CMIO at Cleveland Clinic
  • Matt Eyles, Former President & Chief Executive Officer, AHIP
  • Jen McGonigle, Vice President of Optum Rx Enterprise Capabilities
  • Tricia Lee Rolle, Pharm.D., MS, PhD, Senior Advisor, Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology
  • John Schilling, Co-Managing Partner for TPG Capital
  • Troy Tazbaz, Director of Digital Health Center of Excellence at the Food and Drug Administration
  • Seema Verma, EVP of Oracle Health and former administrator of Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS)

There's a Better Way was named the winner of the 2026 Swaay.Health Award for Podcast of the Year. The award was presented live at the annual Swaay.Health LIVE event in Foxboro, MA.
