Xcel Energy Named One of the World’s Most Ethical Companies® for Seventh Consecutive Year

Award recognizes company’s high-performing compliance program, culture and sustainability efforts

For the seventh year in a row, Xcel Energy has been named a World’s Most Ethical Companies® honoree by Ethisphere, a global leader in defining and advancing the standards of ethical business practices.

Xcel Energy is one of only three energy companies in the United States recognized this year among 138 global honorees. The company scored highest for its ethics and compliance program among Ethisphere’s measurement categories, which also measured the company’s corporate governance, culture of ethics, environmental and societal impact and third-party management.

“As we seize a once-in-a generation opportunity to build the grid of the future, our people are committed to making energy work better for our customers and helping our communities thrive,” said Bob Frenzel, chairman, president and CEO of Xcel Energy. “Being recognized again as a World’s Most Ethical Companies® honoree is a testament to the high standard of conduct our hardworking teams uphold for themselves as they continue to deliver essential energy to our customers in a growing, more electrified economy.”

“Congratulations to Xcel Energy for achieving recognition as one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies®. As we mark the 20th class of honorees, this group continues to raise the bar for business integrity by embedding ethics into everyday decision-making and long-term strategy. Companies with strong ethics, compliance, and governance programs are built for better long-term performance,” said Erica Salmon Byrne, Ethisphere’s Chief Strategy Officer and Executive Chair.

In 2025, Xcel Energy made significant progress on its five-year investment plan to strengthen its energy grid to protect against increasingly frequent and extreme weather and meet the increasing demands of a more electrified economy. And the company continues to deliver its safe, reliable and sustainable energy while keeping its electric and gas bills 28% and 12% below the national average and historic bill growth well below the rate of inflation as it has for the past decade.

Xcel Energy employees champion the company’s values of Connected, Committed, Trustworthy and Safe to create a culture of excellence that is realized by our customers, our people and in our performance.

The World’s Most Ethical Companies assessment is grounded in Ethisphere’s proprietary Ethics Quotient®, which requires companies to provide 240+ different proof points on practices that support robust ethics and compliance, including: corporate governance; program structure & resourcing; written standards; training, awareness, & communication; risk assessment & auditing; investigations, enforcement, discipline & incentives; measurement of ethical culture; third-party risk management, and environmental & social impact.
