VolunCheers, Southern Glazer’s employee volunteering and giving program, empowers team members across its footprint to support causes they care about through hands-on service and charitable giving. Each year, the Company recognizes:
-
VolunCheer of the Year — Every month, Southern Glazer’s employees vote for one team member to be recognized as the VolunCheer of the Month. This is a nomination-based recognition program that acknowledges employees who have spearheaded charitable events in their respective markets and achieved meaningful participation. At the end of the year, each winner is entered as a finalist for the VolunCheer of the Year Award.
- VolunCheers Ambassador of the Year — Southern Glazer’s VolunCheers Ambassador program is comprised of more than 90 employees across 47 U.S. markets and Canada, who are hand-selected by local leaders for their passion and experience in leading volunteer activities. The VolunCheers Ambassador of the Year is awarded for leading extraordinary impact in their communities and encouraging significant local market participation.
Each recipient receives a $5,000 donation to the nonprofit of their choice, helping them make an even greater impact in the communities they serve.
The 2025 recipients are:
VolunCheer of the Year: Kimberley Spence, Managing Director and VP of Supplier Development & Marketing, Corporate
Spence’s 2025 highlights:
Spence was recognized for her leadership during the Hurricane Melissa relief initiative in partnership with Global Empowerment Mission (GEM). More than 30 Southern Glazer’s employees from multiple departments joined her to pack urgently needed supplies for communities in Jamaica that were impacted by the devastating natural disaster. GEM organizers also expressed appreciation for a generous monetary donation from the Southern Glazer’s Florida team, and the efficiency with which seven pallets of essential supplies were packed.
Spence selected Food For The Poor - Jamaica as the recipient of the $5,000 charitable donation. The contribution will support the organization's mission to strengthen communities — including ongoing hurricane relief — through emergency relief programs including housing, food, medical care, clean water and sanitation, education, agriculture, and more.
“It was so heartwarming to have more than 30 Southern Glazer’s employees join me to pack hurricane relief supplies headed to Jamaica,” said Spence. “At a moment’s notice, the VolunCheers community gave up their Saturday morning to step in and help where it was needed most. That really meant a lot to me and to my fellow Jamaicans at Southern Glazer’s.”
Ambassador of the Year: Lexie Clark, Director, Trade Development, MN/ND/SD
Clark’s 2025 highlights:
Clark strengthened a culture of service across the Minnesota market by supporting eight volunteer events with participation from more than 50 employees throughout the year. She also partnered with state leadership to encourage Directors and above to lead or co‑lead at least one volunteer event annually, further embedding volunteerism into local operations. The Minnesota/Dakotas team also earned four VolunCheers of the Month awards in 2025.
Clark selected Open Arms of Minnesota as the recipient of the $5,000 charitable donation. The contribution will support the organization’s mission to prepare and deliver free, nutritious, and medically tailored meals to individuals living with life-threatening illnesses in the Twin Cities area.
“I chose this charity because I know how hard it can be to plan, prepare, and eat three times a day, and for people suffering from illness, that can be an impossible task,” said Clark. “VolunCheers is a program that makes me feel proud to work at Southern Glazer’s. Giving back to our communities is a long-term investment that shows that we care about the future of the cities and states we operate in."
