Eddy Zervigon to join government and industry experts to discuss risks to satellite communications, ground infrastructure and the urgent need for post-quantum protection
Eddy Zervigon, CEO of Quantum XChange®, a leader in quantum-safe network security, will join government and industry experts today at CyberSat 2026 to address the growing threat quantum computing poses to satellite communications and critical space infrastructure. During the panel discussion, Zervigon will highlight the urgent need to counter “Harvest Now, Decrypt Later” attacks and prepare space systems for a future in which quantum computers could break the encryption protecting sensitive communications and operations.
The panel, titled “When Q-Day Meets Orbit: Quantum’s Growing Threat to Space Security,” will bring together experts from the space, cybersecurity and quantum industries to examine threats to encrypted satellite communications, ground station integrity and constellation command links. With governments and commercial operators increasingly dependent on space-based infrastructure for national security and critical services, protecting these systems against quantum threats is becoming a strategic priority.
Satellite networks present significant challenges for the transition to post-quantum security. Spacecraft can be difficult to upgrade once deployed, and the ground infrastructure supporting them often remains operational across multiple generations of satellites. Securing these interconnected systems requires a crypto-agile approach that allows operators to strengthen protections against emerging threats without disrupting mission-critical operations or replacing existing network infrastructure.
“Satellite networks are increasingly critical to national security and essential services, but much of the infrastructure supporting them was built without today’s quantum threats in mind,” said Zervigon. “Adversaries are already harvesting encrypted communications to decrypt later. The space industry needs to act now to protect these networks, building crypto-agility into their security strategies so they can strengthen encryption without replacing existing infrastructure or disrupting mission-critical operations.”
The discussion will also explore the role of government policy and industry collaboration in accelerating the transition to post-quantum cryptography (PQC), including the challenges of securing interconnected space and ground infrastructure.
Quantum XChange helps enterprises and government agencies prepare for this transition through Phio TX®, a FIPS-validated cryptographic management platform that supports multiple key sources, including post-quantum cryptography, quantum key distribution and classical key exchange, under unified policy control. Its crypto-agile architecture allows organizations to change cryptographic methods as standards and threats evolve without application rewrites or network disruption.
Joining Zervigon on the panel will be moderator Dr. Lisa Costa, CEO and Founder of Costa Advisory Group; Richa Hukumchand, Founder and CEO of Pramatra Space; and Dr. Celia Merzbacher, Executive Director of the Quantum Economic Development Consortium (QED-C).
The panel takes place November 2, 2026, from 2:45 to 3:35 p.m. ET at the Hyatt Regency Reston in Reston, Virginia. For more information, visit the CyberSat 2026 website.
