Software helps home builders check supplier increases and find savings on lumber and other building materials

America faces a housing affordability crisis, and rising construction costs make it harder to build homes families can afford. Vosik today launched software that analyzes home builders’ purchasing data to check supplier increases and find savings on building materials.

Lumber is one of the largest purchases in a wood-framed home. For many Canadian softwood lumber exporters, current antidumping and countervailing duties total about 35%. A separate 10% Section 232 tariff raises the combined rate to roughly 45%. Rates vary by product and exporter.

Commerce has proposed lowering the duty portion to about 25%, but those rates are not yet final. Tariffs on imported steel, aluminum, and copper can reach 50%.

Construction-material prices rose 10.1% over the past year. The National Association of Realtors found that first-time buyers represented a record-low 21% of primary-residence buyers in its 2025 survey, with a record median age of 40.

The Housing Tariff Exclusion Act before Congress would create a process for excluding many home-building materials from tariffs.

When a supplier blames tariffs for an increase, Vosik checks the claim against contracts, previous prices, rebates, bids, purchasing history, and market data. It flags increases that need more review and gives buyers facts for supplier discussions.

“Tariffs can protect American jobs, but every supplier increase must stand on the facts,” said Joe Fox, co-founder and CEO of Vosik. “We help builders protect profits and keep building American homes families can afford.”

Co-founder and president Hunter Caudle helped build Vosik using 15 years of purchasing and supply-chain experience, including 10 years at Clayton Homes.

Tennessee State Senator Jessie Seal states, “The United States of America needs more homes, and builders need more accurate purchasing intelligence to build them. Vosik brings clarity and accountability to purchasing, helping builders control costs and keep the American dream of homeownership within reach.”
