Red Hat Introduces AI-Powered Management and Extends Container-Native Reach for Red Hat Enterprise Linux

New Red Hat Enterprise Linux management capabilities embed intelligence earlier in the lifecycle and expand a container-centric model for modern infrastructure, establishing a dynamic foundation for demanding AI deployments

Red Hat, the world's leading provider of open source solutions, today announced enhanced features to manage Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Bolstering strategic IT decision-making, Red Hat Insights now features AI-powered package recommendations and optimized planning capabilities for Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Drawing upon Red Hat's extensive enterprise expertise, these advancements in Insights empower organizations to leverage the inherent strength of the leading enterprise Linux platform to accelerate AI innovation throughout their hybrid cloud environments.

Organizations across industries are adopting generative AI (gen AI) and analytics in IT operations to drive enhanced productivity and streamline management of increasingly complex hybrid infrastructures. According to IDC1, “use cases will increase team/individual productivity by 10%, leading to $5 billion of economic and new business value.” With flexible tools, organizations can confidently address this complexity and cultivate future innovation at their core, across any deployment landscape.

Red Hat Insights planning for Red Hat Enterprise Linux enables better decision making with a comprehensive view of the Red Hat Enterprise Linux roadmap. IT teams can gain a deeper understanding of how Red Hat Enterprise Linux and AppStream releases align with their specific needs, simplifying the maintenance of supported systems and facilitating proactive upgrade strategies. Red Hat Insights planning reinforces customer confidence in the ongoing support of their Red Hat Enterprise Linux and AppStream versions, fostering greater operational efficiency and awareness of the platform's future evolution.

This “shift left” approach continues with Red Hat Insights image builder package recommendations, powered by Red Hat Enterprise Linux Lightspeed, which helps organizations discover packages with different features and functionality that may be relevant to specific tasks. This empowers teams to make full use of the platform's extensive resources, refining selections and strategies early in the build process for optimal efficiency and cost-effectiveness. These intelligent Insights capabilities further solidify Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10 as a durable foundation for enterprise IT to navigate increasingly complex environments while accelerating innovation.

Red Hat is also including Insights advisor in Red Hat Satellite 6.17, bringing proactive recommendations directly to environments without needing public internet connectivity. Packaged in a container, Satellite locally stores Insights advisor rules and remediations post-installation. Continuous container updates keep recommendations current and enable them to be processed and delivered within Satellite without internet access or transmitting host data to Red Hat. This approach provides organizations in highly regulated sectors, such as healthcare, or those with connectivity constraints, the necessary control, operational efficiency and management capabilities to address evolving business imperatives.

Insights also includes Red Hat Insights proxy, offering users another connectivity solution. Ideal for enterprises with network restrictions, this service eliminates the need for direct internet access from each Linux host, streamlining operations and reducing technical complexities while providing access to predictive analytics and security intelligence for Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

Satellite 6.17 also introduces support for image mode, further simplifying Red Hat Enterprise Linux management through a container-native approach. Image mode empowers customers to orchestrate their entire IT environment in a single workflow, spanning applications to the underlying operating system, using consistent tools and techniques. By integrating support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux image-based systems into Satellite, organizations can accelerate adoption of container-native strategies, streamlining workflows for containers and traditional operating system packages, and fostering a more cohesive environment across hybrid cloud, AI workloads and the datacenter.
