Red Hat, the world's leading provider of open source solutions, today announced Red Hat Advanced Developer Suite, a powerful new addition to Red Hat OpenShift, the industry’s leading hybrid cloud application platform powered by Kubernetes, designed to improve developer productivity and application security with enhancements to speed the adoption of Red Hat AI technologies.

It is no surprise that developer productivity and AI integration are top software engineering priorities, with a recent Gartner® survey finding that “Integration AI (48%) and increasing developer productivity (48%) are among the top three strategic goals for many software engineering departments in 2024.”1 Red Hat Advanced Developer Suite directly addresses these critical needs. By enabling a robust platform engineering approach, Red Hat empowers developers to build, deliver and release software to production with greater ease while adhering to stringent security, governance and compliance standards.

Red Hat Advanced Developer Suite provides the tools for platform engineering and developer teams to collaborate on building “golden paths” — software templates that provide infrastructure, application services, toolchains and best practice policies transparently, allowing developers to deliver more applications faster and with advanced security features. With this release, we expand those to cover software templates from Red Hat AI. Red Hat Advanced Developer Suite combines:

  • Red Hat Developer Hub: An enterprise-grade internal developer portal built on Backstage, the leading open source framework for building developer portals and an incubating project in the Cloud Native Computing Foundation. Red Hat Developer Hub now features an enhanced AI-centric user experience, offering pre-configured software templates for prevalent AI scenarios ready for rapid deployment on Red Hat OpenShift AI.
  • Red Hat Trusted Profile Analyzer: Provides comprehensive management of an organization’s software bill of materials (SBOMs), vulnerability exploitability exchanges (VEX) and common vulnerabilities and exposures (CVEs), delivering critical risk intelligence to developers and DevSecOps teams.
  • Red Hat Trusted Artifact Signer: Offers a production-ready deployment of the Sigstore project, simplifying cryptographic signing and verification for software artifacts like container images, binaries and documents. Crucially, Red Hat Trusted Artifact Signer now extends its robust signing and verification capabilities to AI models packaged in OCI format, ensuring only trusted and signed models are deployed, bolstering security.

Red Hat Advanced Developer Suite also integrates seamlessly with a variety of supported tools and offerings including Red Hat OpenShift, enabling organizations to leverage existing investments and further customize the solution to best meet their needs. Through integration with Red Hat OpenShift Pipelines and Red Hat OpenShift GitOps, as well as other leading CI/CD solutions, users can accelerate application delivery, automate testing for earlier bug detection and more. Users are also able to leverage integrations with Red Hat migration toolkit for applications, Podman Desktop and Red Hat IDE Plugins to improve developer velocity and make software development and migration faster and more seamless. Additionally, Red Hat OpenShift Dev Spaces provide developers with a cloud development environment (CDE) for instant developer and contractor onboarding and all the tooling, templates and security requirements built directly into their development environment.
