ARDA Shares 2024 Year-End Insights, 2025 Outlook from Latest Vacation Ownership Sentiment Index

Leisure travel index finds timeshare owners plan to spend more time on vacation, consistently report better vacation experiences than other U.S. travelers

ARDA, the trade association for the vacation ownership and timeshare industries, has released the December 2024 results from its Vacation Ownership Sentiment Index. The latest study highlights timeshare owners’ continued economic optimism and enthusiasm for travel throughout 2024, which is anticipated to continue well into 2025.

The December Sentiment Index found owners experienced increased year-over-year satisfaction with their timeshare and consistently showed more determination to take a vacation than average U.S. leisure travelers.

Other important takeaways from the latest index are below:

  • In December, seven in ten timeshare owners planned to travel for the holidays; nearly 40% more than travelers in general.
  • At the conclusion of 2024, 80% of timeshare owners considered their most recent vacation to be an exceptional vacation experience, up from 68% a year ago and 40% higher than the 57% of vacation travelers in general who felt the same.
  • Timeshare owners showed greater conviction towards vacations than the general traveling public, with 62% of owners strongly agreeing that nothing is going to stop them from taking a vacation -- a +10 point rise over the past year. Comparably, travelers in general saw this sentiment rise only to 39% in strong agreement at the end of 2024.
  • Timeshare owners are 81% more likely to spend more time on vacations over the next six months.
  • Sixty percent of timeshare owners have made a reservation for their next vacation – more than double that of travelers in general.

“Timeshare owners have consistently proven to be active, engaged travelers who prioritize taking their vacation time every year,” said Jason Gamel, president and CEO of ARDA. “Their continued ability to prioritize vacations demonstrates how the overall quality of the timeshare product, coupled with flexible booking options in destinations around the country, makes traveling easier and more accessible for owners.”
