Proud to celebrate 20 years of advancing patient care through innovation, TechCare was the first corrections-specific EHR and comprehensive medical management system
Today, NaphCare, Inc., a leading correctional healthcare company, announced the 20th anniversary of TechCare, its ground-breaking electronic health record (EHR) specifically designed to manage patient populations in correctional settings.
Recognizing that managing healthcare in correctional settings was different than hospital settings, NaphCare developed an innovative, corrections-specific EHR based on the workflows of a correctional facility. Launched in 2004, it was the first corrections-specific EHR and comprehensive medical management system, connecting clinical protocols to patient needs in compliance with national standards. TechCare tracks each patient's healthcare activities, creating standardized treatment processes with transparent reporting. The innovative technology also automates healthcare workflows, reducing administrative tasks to improve quality of care and enables onsite clinical teams to focus on what's most important – the patient.
“Over two decades ago, I joined NaphCare as a software developer with a clear mission to build an EHR solution that would elevate patient care. This vision led to the creation of TechCare,” said Jason Douglas, Chief Technology Officer for NaphCare. “We’re proud to celebrate 20 years of improving patient outcomes and operational efficiency through TechCare, and we are excited for innovations that lie ahead for the industry.”
As a leader in innovation and research for correctional healthcare, NaphCare continues to invest in technology development, including advanced visual data analytics, artificial intelligence (AI) engines and chatbots that are based on sophisticated data models. Through these emerging technologies, NaphCare is researching uses for AI to support the care continuum with clinically-appropriate recommendations and enhanced oversight, ultimately improving patient care, enhancing staff efficiency and achieving better patient outcomes. NaphCare plans to seamlessly integrate new technologies into TechCare’s existing platform, reducing unnecessary complexity.
TechCare EHR is currently in operation in 229 local and state correctional facilities, with more than 154,000 patient records active daily. Most recently, NaphCare has entered into contracts to implement TechCare for Fairfax County, VA, and the Georgia Department of Corrections.
