Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits Appoints Jennifer Chaplin Tolkin to Vice President of Commercial Sales, Campari Division

Southern Glazer's Wine & Spirits (Southern Glazer's)—the world’s preeminent distributor of beverage alcohol—today announced that it has appointed Jennifer Chaplin Tolkin to the role of Vice President of Commercial Sales, Campari Division, effective September 9, 2024.

In her new position, Chaplin Tolkin will report directly to Garrett McGuiness, Senior Vice President, Managing Director, Campari Division, and will lead all sales execution activities and be responsible for partnering on short- and long-term strategic planning, implementing programs, and ensuring sales objectives are achieved. She will also prepare sales forecasts, partner on route-to-market strategies, and much more. Chaplin Tolkin will continue her duties with Human Resources focused on championing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and women’s leadership, including leading the annual Women in Leadership Conference – a gathering focused on advancing careers in the wine and spirits industry.

“We are thrilled to welcome Jennifer Chaplin Tolkin to the dedicated Southern Glazer’s team for Campari America as the Vice President of Commercial Sales,” said Melanie Batchelor, Managing Director, Campari America. “Jennifer has been instrumental in building the Aperol brand in the U.S. since 2018, supporting the remarkable growth of the Aperol Spritz that has become a cultural phenomenon across the U.S. Jennifer has shown her passion, creativity, and strategic vision in driving growth for one of our most important brands, and so we are excited for the impact she will have on our broader portfolio.”

“Due to the tremendous success of Campari America, this role was created to bring additional leadership in steering continued results for its dedicated division at Southern Glazer’s,” said Garrett McGuiness. “Jennifer’s rich experience in the beverage alcohol industry, proven leadership abilities, and strategic way of thinking all make her the perfect person for this position. I have no doubt that she will continue to build on the significant impact our team has achieved with Campari America and bring more opportunities for long-lasting growth.”

Chaplin Tolkin joined the Southern Glazer’s team in 2017 as a Communications and Events Manager in the Communications & Corporate Social Responsibility department. She was then appointed to the roles of National Director, Aperol Strategy and Director, Supplier Management & Business Development. In her most recent role, Chaplin Tolkin held the position of Vice President, Family-Owned Brands and East Region Trade Development Director where she oversaw supplier strategy and performance on a national and regional level for the many family-owned brands in Southern Glazer’s portfolio. Since joining Southern Glazer’s, Chaplin Tolkin has been a strong advocate for DEI, championing programs to advance women at both the Company and in the industry, and currently serves as a Board member for the Alliance for Hospitality Equity & Diversity for New York University.

Chaplin Tolkin will be spending her evenings attending Kellogg Executive Business School in the fall of 2024.

“Campari and Southern Glazer’s share a long history of collaboration and mutual respect, based on our common values of family, quality, and excellence,” said Batchelor. “We are honored to have Southern Glazer’s as our primary distributor of our iconic portfolio of brands, including Aperol, Campari, SKYY Vodka, Espolon Tequila, Wild Turkey, Grand Marnier, and many more. Together, we have built strong brands that resonate with consumers and impact culture in the U.S. We look forward to continuing this partnership with Jennifer and our dedicated Southern Glazer’s team, and to achieving new heights of success in the future.”

“Jennifer has made such a tremendous impact during her career at Southern Glazer’s and I know there’s still much more to come,” Gene Sullivan, Chief Sales & Marketing Officer, Southern Glazer’s. “She inspires everyone she works with and we’re excited to see what she achieves next in her new position.”

An announcement for Chaplin Tolkin’s successor will be forthcoming.
