A member of the Investment Management Group working from Seward & Kissel’s Washington, D.C. office, Jennings is a key member of the firm’s industry-leading regulatory practice. He advises investment advisers, fund sponsors, and non-bank financial institutions on regulatory issues relating to cybersecurity and data privacy, anti-money laundering, lending services, and state and federal licensing and registration.

“Casey’s deep understanding and insight of the financial regulatory landscape adds tremendous value when advising our clients,” said Patricia Poglinco, co-head of Seward & Kissel’s Investment Management Group. “He is a highly respected member of our team who is regularly sought out for his unique expertise.”

In addition to his work with clients within the investment management industry, Jennings is considered one of the nation’s leading attorneys with respect to deposit products.

“Casey is an exceptional legal talent who not only is a leading regulatory attorney, but has assumed leadership of Seward & Kissel’s preeminent practice in the area of bank deposit funding,” said Jim Cofer, managing partner of the firm. “We are thrilled to welcome him to the partnership.”

In addition to his other areas of work, Jennings advises on regulatory issues affecting crypto assets and actively contributes to the firm’s cryptocurrency and blockchain blog, SKrypto.

Before joining the firm as an associate in 2017, Jennings served as counsel at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, where he developed and implemented financial regulatory policy with a focus on unfair, deceptive, and abusive acts and practices, electronic fund transfers, truth in lending, qualified mortgages, fair credit reporting, and data privacy and security.

Jennings previously served as a law clerk for the Honorable James C. Turk, Senior United States District Judge for the Western District of Virginia. He holds a B.A. from University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and a J.D. from University of North Carolina School of Law.
