Candidate for Maricopa County Sheriff, Tyler Kamp, joined KTAR’s Outspoken to discuss the race with less than 20 days to go until the election.
In the live radio interview, Kamp discussed his career in law enforcement, which spans over two decades including his tenure as Shift Commander, Gang Enforcement Sergeant, and Homicide Detective. Kamp also shared his international experience – he served as the Director of Investigations and Law Enforcement Development for a non-government organization, relocating his family to West Africa.
Kamp emphasized the need to keep partisanship out of law enforcement, using the analogy that a Sheriff should be like a referee in a basketball game. Kamp also shared that he was a former Republican who switched parties to run for Sheriff after Sheriff Penzone’s resignation last year.
