Item 8.01. Other Events.
On October 21, 2005, the Board of Directors of National Western Life Insurance Company declared a cash dividend payable November 30, 2005 to stockholders on record as of November 1, 2005. The dividends declared were $0.34 per common share to Class A stockholders and $0.17 per common share to Class B stockholders.
